Yohimbe primarily works by inhibiting Alpha-2-Adrenergic receptors which increases noradrenaline release in the body. Greater Noradrenaline (also known as norepinephrine) levels have been shown by research to increase arousal and alertness, improve focus, increase heart rate, trigger the release of glucose/glycogen for energy, and increase blood flow to muscles.
Each capsule of NutraBio's Yohimbe Extract contains 100mg pure yohimbe bark extract, standardized to 4% Yohimbine Alkaloids, with a guaranteed potency of 4mg of Yohimbine. Yohimbine is the therapeutic active component of yohimbe that gives you all the benefit. The problem with yohimbe is that it only contains fractional amounts of yohimbine so many yohimbe products on the market are completely ineffective. To be effective the yohimbine must be extracted out of the yohimbe. Only standardized herbs deliver a quantified and measurable level of this targeted active ingredient in every serving.
Not all yohimbe supplements are effective. Don't be fooled by other brands that quote dosages of 500mg or even 2000mg. These numbers mean absolutely nothing unless the label quotes the percentage of beneficial active component; yohimbine alkaloid. Yohimbe, yohimbe bark, pausinystalia yohimbe and yohimbe extract are not active ingredients; they are just variations of the name of the herb that has within it, the active ingredient yohimbine. Be careful, they sound similar but yohimbe and yohimbine are very different. The only way to know that you are getting a true therapeutic dose of Yohimbine is if the manufacture lists the active percentage of the extract on the label.

Q&A
Yohimbe seems to amplify the effects of caffeine, is this true?
Most of the research on the synergy between Yohimbe and caffeine shows it is a potent weight/body fat loss combination. We have not come across any research demonstrating Yohimbe amplifying the effects of caffeine in regards to energy, focus, drive, etc.. However, in theory from a physiological perspective, the synergy between yohimbe and caffeine could come from the different receptors they inhibit. While yohimbe inhibits Alpha-2 receptors, caffeine inhibits adenosine receptors (adenosine slows down neural activity). When one of these types of receptors are inhibited, it is compensated by the increased function of the other and vice versa. Thus the combination of yohimbe and caffeine should have a synergistic effect on the sympathetic nervous system by stimulating the body’s fight or flight response.
